Dana White, while talking about Bellator arranging the fight between the two UFC Hall of Famers, Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock on Feb 12, believes the idea of two 50 year old fighting is just crazy and hopes nobody gets hurt seriously.
White, who is the MMA President, was in Melbourne for the UFC 193 festivities, and answering questions by fans. In one question, he was asked about the booking of Shamrock and Royce and what he thinks about the two Hall of Famers stepping into the ring again and facing each other for the third time.
The UFC President didn’t look so impressed with the idea, “Listen, everybody’s gotta do their own thing, but I don’t think that 50-year-olds fighting is ever a good idea,” White said. “I hope nobody gets hurt. I mean, two 50-year-old guys. That’s crazy. Crazy.”
Both fighters are regarded as legends, faced each other for the first time back in 1993. Gracie came out as winner with a submission victory over Shamrock. The rematch was held two year later at the UFC 5, which ended as a draw, as there were no judges. The fight lasted 36 long minutes, and was considered an uneventful content.
Now their 3rd fight is scheduled for February 19, 2016.
