It has been confirmed by the Super-promoter and agent, Eddie Hearn, via a tweet that his client, the World IBF Welterweight Champion Kell Brook will defend his title against the undefeated American Errol Spence Jr later this year.

The date and venue is yet to be officially announced, but it is rumored the fight will happen in front of Brook’s home crowd, in the city of Sheffield, England on May 20th.

Hearn posted a Tweet on Monday: “Terms agreed for SpecialKBrook v ErrolSpenceJr -full announcement coming soon -fight will take place in the UK. Best fight in the division.

The 30-year-old British welterweight champion lost his winning streak against none other than the Gennady “God of War” Golovkin in September last year. The experiment badly backfired as Brook jumped two weight divisions only to be knocked out within 5th round.

Realizing his mistake, the Champ is moving back to welterweight to defend against another unbeaten challenger from America who is also the mandatory challenger for his IBF title.

Before this announcement, there have been an on-going talks between team Brook and team Amir Khan for the potential fight for the domestic supremacy. However, both camps couldn’t agree on the money split.

For Spencer, it would be a difficult task to beat the champion in his own back yard. As far as Brook is concerned he would be looking for an impressive knockout win after suffering from a brutal KO loss.
